Forgotten Creation

This is a project I submitted for the 2022 Atomhawk contest, with the subject 'Forgotten creation'.

I focused on San Agustin's (Colombia) monoliths, carved stones that represent different native deities and governors; In this picture, they are the source of a fantastical situation where a modern child and his mother behold how from these statues, the ancient deities and legends awaken because of the nightfall.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:
First sketches were made in Clip Studio paint.
Then, the zbrush sculpting of the monoliths took place.
Right away, the first V-ray render sketches were made, which were the base for the concept in Photoshop.
Once PS sketches were made, the final poses for mother and child were decided and then, sculpted as well.
The final render into 3DSM / V-ray was finished and brought to PS for the paint over.
